Pontyberem match postponed

Aberystwyth players, coaches and a significant army of supporters travelled to Pontyberem on Saturday only to find the pitch in a poor state. The torrential rain along the way had warned of some danger but after the long journey the visitors were still prepared to play and referee Jacky Boswell would probably have agreed, but the home management team were very wary of the amount of water on the pitch, and proceedings were called off twenty minutes before the scheduled kick-off time.

So Aberystwyth still have five matches to go - two at home and three away. Saturday's events will now extend Aber's season well into May but the programme will start next Saturday at Plasrug. The Ceredigion side currently lie in second place, two points behind League leaders Penclawdd but with a game in hand. And it is the cocklemen who will be the visitors  next Saturday for a mouth watering contest, Aberystwyth keen to avenge the defeat suffered in the away match in November. This really is the business end of the season and a large crowd is anticipated to watch the light and dark blues as the many local supporters who keenly supported Wales in the Six Nations now turn their attention to domestic rugby.
