Aberystwyth Athletic travelled to Tenby for their return fixture on what proved to be another entertaining game between two sides intent on playing running rugby. Early exchanges were cancelled out by both teams until an accurate down field kick by Craig Debell and pressure by winger Iwan Morris, saw a hurried clearance collected by prop Dylan Jones who charged into the Tenby half brushing defenders aside to feed scrum half Josh Smith who crossed in the corner. From the kick off the Athletic were straight back on the attack and some excellent handling by both forwards and backs saw the ball reach Iwan Morris who crossed under the posts for the Athletic's second try. The Athletic were now enjoying long periods of possession through their dominant scrum and lineout where both Alex Monnox and captain Robbie Parry were dominant, and it saw two more tries scored firstly by Shane Evans after an excellent individual chip and chase and Deon James after centre Will Bromham was held up on the Tenby line the every present flanker was on hand to secure possession and crash over. After several infringements by the Athletic players, Tenby found themselves in the ascendancy and after a series of pick and goes through their forwards they crossed for a try. With the half coming to a close, Robbie Parry secured a Tenby lineout and the Athletic backs were quick to take advantage. A line break by centre Leo Davies saw him surge into Tenby’s half and with the sorting Alex Spollen continuing the move, the ball found its way to winger Sean Gorman who crossed for a 27 -5 halftime lead. The second half saw the Athletic continue in the same attacking manner, but resolute defence by the home team kept the Athletic at bay. It was from a kick down field by Tenby that saw the home team pressure the visitors line but strong defence and a turnover by the Athletic pack saw Robbie Parry surge into the Tenby half where quick recycling by the Athletic forwards saw the ball reach Shane Edwards who rounded of a fine individual performance by crossing for his second try. The Athletic then allowed Tenby back into the game and the home team crossed for two more tries. However, with 10 minutes of the match remaining the Athletic refocused their efforts and once again started to dominate the match with the forwards winning quick ball at the break down and inter play between Leo Davies and Shane Evans saw the latter place a sublime chip to the corner where scrum half Josh Smith out paced the home defence to gather and dive into the corner for his second try of the game and a well deserved final score of Tenby 17 Aberystwyth Athletic 37.
